How-Kobe-Bryant-Solidified-His-Legacy

After his sudden and tragic passing back in January 2020, the world mourned for the death of Kobe “Black Mamba” Bryant. It was a sad day for sports, but his legacy will live on. For many years to come, millions of kids will be inspired by how Kobe defied the odds in the realm of basketball.

Here is how Kobe Solidified his legacy.

5 Championship Rings

Kobe won 5 championship rings in total before his retirement. His first one was back in 2000 and then followed by two more in the next two years, 2001 and 2002. Many people believed Kobe and the Los Angeles Lakers won those championships because of Shaquille O’Neal, the most dominant athlete in the league back then.

But Kobe proved all his doubters wrong when he had back-to-back championships in 2009 and 2010. Kobe led the Lakers to victory against the Boston Celtics with the big three standing in his way.

81 Points Game

On January 22, 2006, the Lakers were playing the Toronto Raptors at the Staples Center. Everyone expected it would be a normal game until Kobe started making buckets one after the other.

We are not just talking about dropping 50, 60, 70, or 80 points. He made 81 points in one game.

That put him on the second spot of NBA single-game leaders and records for points after Wilt Chamberlain. It was a performance like no other and since then, no one has gone beyond. Some came close, but only close.

Final Game

In his final game back in April 13, 2016, Kobe gave fans all over the globe something to remember. He finishedhis career with a bang scoring 60 points against the Utah Jazz. In his final game, one last time, he led the Lakers to victory.

Mamba Mentality

Kobe was dubbed as the Black Mamba in the court. Wanting to share that passion of his with others, he started the Mamba Mentality campaign. He wrote a book dissecting what the mentality meant for him in hopes to inspire others, not just those in the world of sports.

He even started a sports academy to train young basketball players from all over the globe. The Mamba Mentality is now solidified as an idea of pushing forward your limits and achieving your dreams against all odds.
